This is a 11 color reduction woodcut of The friendly Toast is for sale at WWW.ETSY.COM/SHOP/CHICKFAMILYINK . The Toast is a popular eatery in Portsmouth New Hampshire that is known for its eclectic and funky decor, fantastic food, huge portions and surly tattooed wait staff. You are guaranteed a strong cup of coffee and a long wait to enjoy the loud rockabilly or punk music (it depends on the cook that day) This place is totally worth the visit to Portsmouth. The Toast was just recently lauded as one of the top four breakfast joints in the US by Good Morning America of ABC television.

Woodcut reductions are difficult. I've done one, three reductions, I wanted to throw it through a window with frustration. This is eleven. ELEVEN. And look at the detail! Keeping Portsmouth Funky by ~chicolet is a work of skill, precision and patience I am staggered by. And the colour scheme is gorgeous! ( Suggested by laurart and Featured by Mollinda )
love the athmosphere on this one!
YES! Love the friendly toast I go there like once a week for dinner Love portsmouth as well
this is AWESOME AWESOME !!
This makes me want to do something that ridiculously time consuming because it is so rad looking. This is great in all the technical ways that come to mind. I hope the "Friendly Toast" bought one of these from you.
Beautiful Piece! Solid wood cut technique!
Man, i gotta say, i really love this.
the friendly toast, I know where that is!!
To have the patience and skill to print an 11 color reduction is something rarely found. Beautiful work. Bravo!
Excellent work!! I love this place
This print was purchased by the set decorator for the television show Prime Suspect on NBC for the apartment of the main character. Yehaw Me!
wow 11 colors!! My first (and only, to date) reduction block was only 5 colors and an edition of 9 - far fewer pulls than this!!
This print was just purchased by the set designer for the new NBC drama Prime Suspect to be used on the set of the main character's apartment. Watch for it this fall.
This is an awesome print, and must have been a serious effort, the detail is amazing! The most pulls I've ever attempted to try on a single print is eight, so color me impressed!
This is mad beautiful
I love the Friendly Toast, but you sure are right about the long wait and the surly waitstaff.
What keeps you in Japan? I think you might need one of my prints hanging on your wall over there. Did you check out my Etsy shop? www.chickfamilyink.esty.com
Maybe we can work a trade.
Maybe we can work a trade.
I'm teaching English. But after three years I'm finally moving back to the States this summer. I'll check out your site. While I don't need anything out here as I'm already loosing my mind trying to figure out shipping stuff back, something for my walls once home might be nice.
Also thanks to this DD, The Friendly Toast is now popular with the internet.
what do you mean by that?
This is great!
Congrats on the DD!~
and the actual restaurant is even more delicious.
oh i know this well enough
I wish they would stop raising their prices but Portsmouth is a tough town to do funky business in. Before you know it, our fair city will be only Starbucks and condos if we aren't careful and vigilant. I understand that the Cambridge Toast is pretty good also, hopefully it will catch on and provide a boost to the collective income of the Toast and the prices will level out.
i am IMPRESSED by the level of detail. it really looks like the store. i like that the blue and the iron oxide mix, making a neat grey. i also love the lettering for "friendly toast".
WOAH, that is one seriously awesome reduction print. jeez loueez, i struggle with a three color reduction. bravo for the skill and patience to my it look this spectacular!
